Our Projects

The Drop Zone Extended Education Program provides support to young people who find engagement in mainstream education difficult. We work with small groups supporting GCSE work, delivery of Functional Skills and preparation for exams. We are delivering a wide range of subjects through NCFE , including Maths, English and ICT, ASDAN CoPE and a selection of ASDAN short courses.

We tailor provision to meet the needs of our young people with the ultimate goal of reintegration back into mainstream education. Our young people are actively involved in developing their own learning plans which promotes responsibility and organisational skills.

We also offer intensive one to one work with experienced staff for young people who are deemed high risk alongside anger management, self esteem, confidence building, attendance and engagement. We support young people in developing their own strategies which support successful transitions into adult life.

Our youth work provision provides opportunities for young people across Furness. Young people can access a variety of projects, from accessing drop-in sessions to socialise with friends to taking part in activities designed to improve young peoples skills and knowledge. 

Our centres across Furness provide young people with access  to youth workers and programmes to engage young people in positive activities, opportunities to gain accredited outcomes and to signpost those that may need extra support. Young people are at the heart of everything we do and plan and develop social action projects to improve their communities including awareness raising, health and well being projects and community development initiatives. We support young people to broaden their horizons by engaging in trips and residentials enabling young people to experience independence and to build self esteem. Our detached youth project delivers across Furness and facilitates a multi agency approach to engage young people.

 Drop Zone are part of Furness Youth Work partnership. Our partnership working enables us to support community projects to create a better environment for young people to thrive. Furness Pride is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ inclusion, diversity and visibility in Barrow-in-Furness. Delivered by Drop Zone Youth Projects, the event was created by young people who wanted to bring Pride to their local area and has grown into a vibrant annual festival. The day features a colourful parade, live performances, community stalls, workshops and activities. We aim to create a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages to come together, celebrate identity and access local support services. Furness Pride is driven by community spirit, promoting equality, raising awareness and strengthening connections across Furness.
